The son of Claudia Buenavista and the daughter of Amor Powers had this ‘Romeo and Juliet’ dilemma that fired up Philippine television several years ago.
I believe many of us still remember the smash hit international soap opera “Pangako Sa’yo” (The Promise) starring Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales.
As usual, the producers of the show turned these two young actors into a loveteam. Never mind how the fans call them as if they were some sort of compound elements.
At some point, I would have to agree that they really look good together onscreen just the way it should be.
In fact, their sequel-like miniseries, still on ABS-CBN 2, “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas” (Eternity) turned out to be very successful as far as Mega Manila TV ratings was concern.
Hence, the population growth of their fans locally and in some Southeast Asian countries as well as Africa never became so difficult so to speak. Not to mention the hospitality Malaysian media and fans bestowed upon Jericho and Kristine.
Changing partners, however, came to a point that led them to hiatus. Notice how it happens to all loveteams after two or three successful TV shows and a follow-up movie?
Well, it’s not good to eat sushi everyday.
I mean, it’s okay to eat sushi, then kimchi the following day, then have sinigang for lunch, cheeseburger for dinner or even, tuna sandwich.
The problem with our local showbiz is that it eats sushi and keeps on eating three times a day, everyday until it feels like it doesn’t want to eat one anymore.
The brouhaha of Kristine Hermosa secretly married to Diether Ocampo (a local actor in the Philippines) was all over the place, with a lot of ambush interviews here, there and everywhere.
On the other hand, Jericho Rosales had been dating another local actress named Heart Evangelista at that time. I’m not sure if it was before or after the TV series “Panday” wherein the latter was also his lead female star.
According to their fans, “Dahil May Isang Ikaw” (Earth Angel) is the newest TV drama on ABS-CBN bringing the much-awaited reunion of Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales on primetime television.
I hope that NaCl(s) H2O is still equivalent to EchoTin.
